Una conversazione aperta con la regista e produttrice Sarah Nörenberg a seguito della proiezione di "Orca – Black & White Gold", un affascinante docu-thriller sul commercio internazionale di orche, che affronta come l'esportazione di un modello di business americano stia influenzando il commercio illegale di orche selvatiche in pericolo, attraverso un accesso senza precedenti a giornalisti, attivisti, ex addestratori e ai pescatori stessi.

Oltre alla realizzazione del film, questa conversazione mira a discutere con filmmaker interessati alla documentaristica e la natura come sviluppare nuovi e innovativi format factual per ogni piattaforma media, mentre si pone l'accento sulle parti fragili del mondo, per dare voce alle specie minacciate e avere un impatto positivo sul nostro prezioso pianeta.

An open conversation with director and producer Sarah Nörenberg and screening of "Orca – Black & White Gold", a captivating docu-thriller about the international orca trade, illuminating how the export of an American business model is influencing illegal trade in endangered wild orcas, through unprecedented access to journalists, activists, former trainers, and the catchers themselves.

Beyond exploring the making of the film, this talk aims to discuss with dedicated nature and documentary filmmakers how to develop new and innovative factual formats for every media platform while  shining a light on fragile parts of the world, to give a voice to threatened species and to make a positive impact on our precious planet.

Sarah Nörenberg

Sarah è una pluripremiata produttrice e regista. La sua passione per l'ambiente l’ha portata a unirsi a Terra Mater Studios, una filiale di Red Bull, dove produce progetti sia di finzione che di non finzione. Sarah è inoltre docente presso l'Università di Scienze Applicate di St. Pölten e presidente dell'International Screen Institute, un'ente di formazione finanziato da Creative Europe per i professionisti del cinema e della televisione. Fa parte della classe 2024 di Inside Pictures.

Sarah is an award-winning Producer and Director. Her passion for impact-driven storytelling led her to join Terra Mater Studios, a subsidiary of Red Bull, where she produces both fiction and non-fiction projects. Furthermore, Sarah is a lecturer at the St. Pölten University of Applied Sciences and serves as Chairwoman of the International Screen Institute, a Creative Europe-funded training initiative for film, and television professionals. She is part of the 2024 cohort of Inside Pictures.

Emanuele Mengotti

Emanuele Mengotti è nato nel 1986 a Venezia. Dopo aver vinto la Green Card si è trasferito negli USA diventando cittadino americano. Ha lavorato come line producer in Hallucinaut prodotto da Terry Gilliam e come ricercatore per il documentario Friedkin uncut selezionato alla Mostra del Cinema di Venezia e alla Festa del Cinema di Roma. Ha diretto i documentari West of Babylonia e Rosso di Sera che sono stati presentati al Biografilm. Il terzo e ultimo capitolo della trilogia è in fase di produzione.

Emanuele Mengotti was born in 1986 in Venice. After obtaining a Green Card, he moved to the USA and became an American citizen. He worked as a line producer on "Hallucinaut," produced by Terry Gilliam, and as a researcher for the documentary "Fried kin Uncut," which was selected for the Venice Film Festival and the Rome Film Fest. He directed the documentaries "West of Babylonia" and "Red Sky at Night" which both premiered at the Biografilm Festival. The third and final chapter of the trilogy is in production.
